This is a venture set up to provide opportunities for children and young people who have Down's Syndrome, and their siblings, to become involved in creative and expressive activities - drama, dance, music and have fun together.  It is also a chance for families to socialise over a tea or coffee.

From September 2010, following sub-committee meetings to discuss future plans, it was agreed that we would extend drama in order to include more 7-11 year olds.  This involves splitting into three groups, whilst as a whole we will still remain as the Snappy Name Drama Group, the primary age group will be referred to as Snapdragons

Primary School - ages* 7-11yrs
High School - ages* 11- 16yrs
College Students/Young Adults (Seniors) ages* 16yrs+
* age ranges are for guidance and remain flexible

Snappy Name Drama Group is back for 2012

It's fantastic that there is now so much choice of activities for people with disabilities.  As mentioned at this year's AGM this choice of activities affected attendance at SNDG.  With this in mind we have streamlined the group to reflect needs and make it possible for more of our member's to attend.

Previously, the High School and the College Students/Young Adults Groups (Seniors) had been attending sessions at Norwich Arts Centre venue for some years and these sessions have been on hold whilst we sourced a new venue.

We are pleased to announce that as from the New Year 2012, the new SNDG venue will be:
Wensum Community Centre,
Hotblack Rd, Norwich NR2 4HG (free parking available)

From January 2012 we will meet once a month on the 2nd Saturday of the month.  As before, the session will be split into two age groups at the following revised times:
10.30am - 11.20am (11-16 year olds)
11.40am - 12.30pm (17+ year old members)

Forthcoming dates 2012 are:
14th Jan, 11th Feb, 10th Mar and if these sessions prove successful, a further provisional date of 14th Apr will be confirmed.

Snapdragons

Primary Group (7-11yrs) - Its was proposed that in order to provide a safe environment and suitable activities, this group needs to meet at a different venue from the Norwich Arts Centre.  The East City Children's Centre is an ideal venue and since the Young Down's Group already meet there, it also offers an easy transitional opportunity for YDG members to graduate to the Primary Snappy Name Drama Group.  The Snapdragons group is coordinated by Sophie, but will be covered by Paul, whilst Sophie is on a maternity break during Autumn 2011.

The group meets in the main hall on 1st Saturday of the month during term time at
