One of our most successful and popular activities is the running of this support group for families, carers and friends of babies and children who have Down's Syndrome; and who are aged from birth to eleven years.
2011 marks the 20th anniversary!

The Young Down's Group gives the children a chance to play together and have some fun, whilst the parents socialise and exchange views and ideas over a cuppa.

From May 1st 2010 the Young Down's Group will be held on the first Saturday of every month 10:00 - 12:00 and the venue will move to the East City Children's Centre. The change of day and venue is as a direct result of the YDG Parent Questionnaire and the subsequent feedback received from the majority of families with children aged under 10.

Young Down's Group Coordinators

In the summer of 2010, after many years of coordinating YDG, Gaynor and Lisa handed over the running of the group to Paul and Sophie who can be contacted via email on ydg@downsyndrome-norfolk.org.uk

Young Down's Group Venue

From 1st May 2010 onwards, the YDG will meet at the East City Children's Centre on the 1st Saturday morning of each month - from 10:00am to 12:00noon.

The facilities for little ones are brilliant, with both indoor and outdoor play areas, specially designed toilets and changing area.  There's plenty of room for grown-ups to relax with refreshments and (as often as possible) meet with invited speakers, plus older siblings are able to use the school hall and playing fields.  There's ample car parking on-site and the Centre is seconds from the Ring Road and easily accessible from the A47.

Everyone at Down's Syndrome Norfolk and the Young Down's Group extend a warm welcome to our new families, and look forward to seeing you again soon.

The YDG still remains a great opportunity for all ages to meet up with friends, siblings, parents/carers and grandparents.  Come and meet some of our younger and more recent members.

As always Kate, who is DSN's Vice Chairperson and a Trustee, is on hand at every YDG session to guide youngsters with one of her fabulous craft activities

Snapdragons

Primary Group (ages 7-11yrs) - Its was proposed that in order to provide a safe environment and suitable activities, this group needs to meet at a different venue from the Norwich Arts Centre.  The East City Children's Centre is an ideal venue and since the Young Down's Group already meet there, it also offers an easy transitional opportunity for YDG members to graduate to the Primary Snappy Name Drama Group.  The Snapdragons group is coordinated by Sophie, but will be covered by Paul, whilst Sophie is on a maternity break during Autumn 2011.

The group meets in the main hall on 1st Saturday of the month during term time at
